If you've ever longed for a weekend where time slows down, phones stay in pockets and the only traffic jam involves a family of Moorhens, then welcome to Shropshire.

Nestled away from noise and neon of modern life, it's a county of soft rolling hills, historic towns and more walking trails than you can shake a hiking stick at. In the heart of it all? Abbey Green Farm, our little sanctuary of peace.

Why Shropshire?

It's one of England's best-kept secrets. You wont find tourist coaches clogging up the lanes or overpriced theme parks here. Instead, think Hawkstone Park Follies for dramatic walks, charming market towns like Wem and Whitchurch for antique hunting and countryside views so serene you'll feel like you've stepped into a painting. Our little nature pond is now home to a growing family of moorhens. We started with two...and now there are twelve! philip is planning on on making a 'Moorhen Crossing' sign we'll keep you posted0 The mother is of course called matilda, because every moorhen needs a good name.

Where to stay (Hint...with us!)

Our boutique Bed & Breakfast was born from a love of interiors, craftmanship and first class hospitality. We converted our barn into three elegant ground floor rooms, each with it's own style and quirks, many thanks to Rose's re-upholstery skills and Philips handcrafted touches. (If you spot a wooden birdhouse outside, chances are Philip made it. If you admire a chair inside, Rose probably brought it back to life)

What makes us different?

Peace, space and attention to detail. we don't do late-night discos or giant playgrounds, we have quiet time from 10PM-8AM, spotless facilities and food that makes guests smile. Speaking of which...

What to eat.

Breakfast? A full English breakfast in our Cowhous dining room served with good coffee and no rush. afternoon tea on Saturdays? Homemade scones, clotted cream and jam, the sort of thing you'd write home about if people still wrote letters.

And every evening between 6-7pm, our stone baked pizzas (with vegan and gluten free options) are served but they must be pre-ordered at least 12 hours in advance because every based is homemade.

How to book your break.

Whether you fancy a weekend of walking, a romantic break or just some quiet time, Abbey Green Farm is ready to welcome you.

bring your walking boots. Leave the noise at home.
